Proxitron expands its product line of can sensors

More than two decades ago the first can line sensor based on the inductive principle was created by Proxitron to control the speed and feed of cans in a production line. Proxitron continues to expand its product range of can detection and now presents the can counting sensor as well as the area can mass sensor.

The can counting sensor detects cans made from aluminium or tinplate from 53 mm to 86 mm. As a compact device the sensor can work without a remote station or double head. Due to the Teach-In function the sensor can be adjusted easily and quickly to the current can size and can distance respectively. The device detects the cans with a speed of up to 6000 units per minute. Each can is counted just once – even if it passes the sensor again in reverse direction. An optional cable with angled female connector is available in different lengths and also as a shielded version.

Also when it comes to area and quantity control of cans, Proxitron has been thinking ahead. The new area can mass sensor monitors a cup jam at the distributor, for example, and determines the occupancy percentage. The integrated analog output provides a signal which can be used, in association with the drive, to adjust the conveyor speed. This helps to prevent excessive pressure on the cans, or to re-adjust the conveyor speed if cans are too few. The area can mass sensor is suitable for different can sizes and materials. Accessories like a connection cable in different lengths are available for this sensor as well.

With the new product line Proxitron covers the application field of can production and filling in the food and non food industry.
